Well Street is a place to research investments, test ideas against decades of real market history, track your portfolio, and think out loud with other investors. It was built on a simple belief: sharing wealth-building knowledge openly makes everyone smarter than gatekeeping it. You don't need to be anything in particular to be here. Curious is enough.
One thing to know up front, because we say it everywhere and mean it: Well Street is a research and analytics platform. It's not a broker, it doesn't execute trades, and nothing on it is investment advice. What it gives you is evidence, tools, and company — the rest of the thinking stays yours.
The whole app hangs on six tabs: Well, Street, Backtest, Terminal, Floor, and Market. Each does a different job, and none assumes you've mastered the others first.
The Well is your research desk. Watchlists, custom charts, deep-dives on any ticker, screeners that search across more than 1,500 fundamental and technical fields, and custom dashboards you can have built for you.
The Street is the social side — a feed of market news, analysis, shared ideas and backtest results from other investors, plus Shorts, which are short-form investing videos you can swipe through.
Backtest is the time machine. Describe a strategy, run it back through decades of point-in-time market history, and see how it would have held up — graded on both performance and confidence.
Terminal is your personal portfolio tracker: holdings, live performance, attribution that shows what's actually driving your returns, and a trade journal. It's also where daily buy and sell signals land.
The Floor is community rooms for real-time discussion. The Market is a marketplace where people buy and sell investing resources — including things they've made on Well Street itself.
Behind several of these sits Poster, the builder that powers custom pages and dashboards. You'll meet it naturally as you go.
Well Street is free to start, and the free tier is genuinely useful — it's not a teaser. Guest mode lets you explore without creating an account at all. Core research tools, the Street feed, Shorts, and the learning material are all open.
The learning material deserves a special mention. The Concepts library is a free, plain-English collection of guides covering investing from first principles to portfolio construction, and the glossary defines every metric on the platform in plain words, formulas included. There's also a daily quiz if you like learning in small bites.
An optional paid plan unlocks the heavier machinery — advanced backtesting, deeper screening, and full portfolio analytics. Upgrade if and when the free tools stop being enough. There's no rush and no pressure.
There's no required order, but here's a path that works well.
Start on the Street. Scroll the feed, watch a few Shorts, and get a feel for how people here talk about markets. You'll see charts, theses, news reactions, and backtest results people are proud of.
Then open the Well and look up a company you already know — one whose products you use is perfect. Poke through its fundamentals, charts, and news. Add it and a few others to a watchlist so you have something to check on tomorrow.
When a question forms — do cheap stocks really beat expensive ones? does this pattern mean anything? — take it to Backtest and let history answer. Later, add your real holdings to Terminal so your own portfolio has a home. And when you want to talk it through with people, the Floor is open.
You'll hit unfamiliar terms — everyone does. When that happens, the glossary is the fastest fix, and the Concepts library is the deeper one. They're written for humans, not for people who already know the answer.
A last bit of honest framing before you dive in. On Well Street, a backtest is evidence, not a promise; past performance doesn't guarantee future results. Posts on the Street are people's opinions, clearly theirs. Signals and screens are information for your thinking, not instructions. Holding all of it that way — curious, a little skeptical, willing to check claims against history — is the whole skill this place is built to teach.
